Tru Green Fertilizer

July 2nd, 2026

Tru Green will be applying both fertilizer and broadleaf weed control THIS WEEK, THURSDAY, JULY 2nd. This particular application is a granular fertilizer and a liquid herbicide. Typically, in high heat summer months, weeds are spot treated. However, since it is early in the season and for this particular application, the weed control will be done along with the fertilizer. Every lawn will get both treatments though use of a broadcast spreader. Fertilizer at this time of year is normally a granular 33-0-6, which is a high level of nitrogen. This nitrogen will help boost the “darker” green (rather than current yellow/green) appearance of the lawns.

Tru Green does not commit to a specific date until about the end of the week prior to the actual scheduled service date. As you can agree, Lawn services are very weather dependent. Rain, extreme heat and other can affect their schedule, not only on the scheduled day of our service, but other days problems can cause a shift in scheduling. Please be patient as the Board will keep you as informed as possible in the event of changes.

In South Carolina, lawn signs indicating lawn type applications are not required to be placed on each lawn serviced. On the day of applications, Tru Green will place signs at the two entrances of our development, per their policy. The Board has asked also for signs to be placed at the two common area entrances, but unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that will happen. This is something we will work on with Tru Green.

Please be aware that pets should be kept inside for at least 2 hours (or until application is completely dried) after application to your lawn. If your pet is outside at the time the application is due at your yard, Tru Green's process is for the service technician to knock on your door and ask to you to contain your pet, and then they will proceed to service your lawn. If you don’t respond to the door knock, and your pet is outside, unfortunately, Tru Green will not return to your lawn. The service tech will bypass and provide information to their leadership and you will need to be rescheduled to a later date. The Board agrees with you that this is not ideal. Our recommendation is that on the day of application, should your pet need outside yard access, you stay with your pet and bring it in as soon as their business is done. This will give you the most security to ensure your lawn will be serviced.

Please make sure any gates are unlocked on the day of application. If Tru Green encounters a locked gate, your lawn will not be serviced that day and you will need future rescheduling as available.
The Board will do our very best to notify you as early as possible on the day of application both via email and on the community Facebook page that Tru Green is actually present in the neighborhood. We will also notify you should any scheduled date be cancelled and rescheduled.

We have gotten several questions from the community, and We’ve included some information below.
Application Schedule 2026:
Tru Green’s schedule calls for 7 applications, approximately 6-8 weeks apart. TRU GREEN DID NOT DO THE FIRST APPLICATION (Early Spring). The first application of fertilizer and pre-emergent weed control was done by our previous landscape company.
  1. Tru Green did the second application (Late Spring) on 5/14/2026 - fertilizer, broadleaf weed control and pre-emergent weed control.
  2. The third application (Early Summer), is happening next week, Thursday, July 2nd (weather permitting) - fertilizer and broadleaf weed control.
  3. Fourth application - (Late Summer) - estimated weeks of 8/10 or 8/17 - fertilizer and broadleaf weed control - as needed and weather dependent.
  4. Fifth application - (Early Fall) - estimated weeks 9/14 or 9/21 - fertilizer and broadleaf weed control - as needed and weather dependent.
  5. Sixth application - (Fall) - estimated week of 10/26 - fertilizer and broadleaf weed control - as needed and weather dependent.
  6. Seventh application (Late Fall) - estimated week of 11/30 - fertilizer and broadleaf weed control - as needed and weather dependent.
Typically, the applications are roughly 6-8 weeks apart, depending on rainfall, soil temperatures. etc., so these are flexible dates, but should be a decent guideline. The Board will notify you of upcoming applications as soon as we are notified by Tru Green, typically the end of week before or beginning of the week of a scheduled application. Notifications will be emailed, posted on FB page and on website (soon to be fully operational!).
Fertilizer and pre-emergent are spread by riding broadcast spreader. Broadleaf weed control is done as needed by spot treatment per lawn unless otherwise determined by Tru Green. Especially in the height of summer sun, over spraying a cause significant damage, so spot treatment is the best way to ensure grass health integrity.
The Southpointe Cottages’ contract with Tru Green provides for the services specifically mentioned above. Other issues with your lawn, such as, but not limited to, grubs and fungus problems, are the responsibility of the individual home owner to rectify as each homeowner see fit.
Thank you all for your support of the Board and our community as we begin a new chapter of service for our lawns with Tru Green. We are looking forward to a sea of beautiful green grass!
